Whether you are a 1st time client, participating in the 30 day rehab, or completing a 6 month re-evaluation, preparing for thermal imaging and my evaluation is fairly simple.
Please ensure your horse is inside for at least 2 hours prior to our session, LIMIT handling (petting, brushing, etc.) 1 hour prior, Please brush your horse and pick their feet thoroughly where they are free of mud and manure, completely dry (free of rain, sweat or water from a bath), and limit fly sprays, poultices, liniments, oils, etc. as anything on the skin or fur may throw off the thermal pinpoints. Please note that Thermal Imaging is dependent on weather if it is under 32 degrees or above 90 degrees we may need to complete this portion at a different appointment.
For the evaluation please have a space prepared for the therapist to see the horse walk and trot on both sides along with having your saddle prepared to look at fit.
Evaluation and thermal imaging adds approximately 30 minutes to your scheduled appointment time. A handler must be available for the whole session.
Please arrive to your appointment on time.
Please ensure your horse is thoroughly brushed, dry and free of mud, manure, fly sprays, poultices, liniments, oils, etc. within one hour of appointment time. A handler must be available for the whole session as I point out sore spots or show you maintenance tricks. The massage will take approximately an hour and 15 minutes from start to finish including stretches, the massage, and a 10-minute level two Bemer session.
Post session, please allow at least 24 hours for your horse to recover before you work/ride. Horses can be put out to pasture post massage with no trouble. Please provide lots of fresh water to drink during this time. You may notice some soreness within the next 24 hours due to working those muscles and releasing lactic acid buildup and they will recover. Your horse may poo or pee more and that’s OK!
If you are only scheduled for a Bemer session, please make sure your horse is brushed well before the appointment time. A handler must be available for the whole session. Each Bemer sessions max time limit is 30 minutes. We can do other Bemer spots that are not included in the massage session including stifles and hind legs during this time.
If you are scheduled for an ice horse session, please ensure your horse is thoroughly brushed, completely dry and free of mud, manure, fly sprays, poultices, liniments, oils, etc. within one hour of appointment time. A handler must be available for the whole session. Max session time is 45 minutes.
Please ensure horse is brushed, dry and free of mud, manure, fly sprays, poultices, liniments, oils, etc. prior to the appointment time. I will do a basic evaluation prior to taping to ensure proper muscle tape placement. A handler must be available for the whole session. Taping session max time limit is 30 minutes. It is recommended to not leave the tape applied more than 5 days. The tape is water resistant and the horse (if cleared to work by a veterinarian) can return to be ridden, work, and driven with the tape applied. When the tape begins to peel, please remove in the direction of the horses fur growth.
A Raindrop massage will require a lot of extra pre and post massage work care
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING!
Please bathe your horse the day prior to your appointment with water only as this will help the essential oils set in better and limit skin reactions. Make sure to thoroughly scrub the Horses legs inside and out especially in the fetlock areas. Please also thoroughly scrub spine and poll. Please ensure there is absolutely no mud, poultices, liniment, fly spray, or other products used on your horse post bath and prior to the appointment. Make sure your horse is brushed prior to your appointment time and that they are completely dry. A Raindrop therapy session will approximately take an hour and 30 minutes. A handler must be available for the whole session.
Post Massage the Horse CANNOT be in direct sun for 12 hours post massage as well as no fly sprays or other products are to be used within 8 hours as we do not want to cause any skin reactions. It is recommended that you do not ride or work your horse within 24 hours of the session as the horse will be detoxing. It is further recommended that the horse has ample access to fresh water at all times and that raindrop therapy will cause the horse to drink more causing more urination and defecation.
